What can you do with Roadside Rubbish??

Well check out my Trashy Tool!!

Let me show you what I did when I got Resourceful and made a tool from trash.

Old Tire Hoop Bender

Old Tire Hoop Bender

Like…. Bending Garden hoops on a "semi-truck" tire I found on the highway, Route 66.

Total cost to make this bender, $1.10- cost of this u bolt.

No you don’t have to rescue a commercial truck tire from the side of the road to DIY!!
I will share many other ways to be Resourceful and build the stuff that you need in your life, within your means.

How did I make this Tire Hoop Bender??

I used a ¾” pipe u bolt-#308 as the bending stop- the part of the tool that holds the tubing against the form allowing it to be bent.

I drilled (2) holes in the tire to allow the u bolt to pass through. Installed the U-bolt and tightened the fasteners on the other side.

How do you make a comparable HOOP BENDER instead of using a tire the weighs over 100 pounds?

One alternative is to make a wooden form, in a half circle.

You can CUT a piece of plywood, a HALF MOON/half circle shape that has the same dimensions and profile as the tire. The Tire measures 42” wide. A 42” circle. So the wooden form should be  42” long and 21” tall, in a half circle shape and thicker than the tubing. You can use plumbers strap or something similar to make a bracket to hold the tubing against the form at one end allowing you to bend the tubing the profile of the form.

When I have a piece of plywood to do this I will build it to show you. At the moment the tire bender works so good, there is no need to make another bender to do the same job.

You Can Do it!!
